An area of learning in Year 5 is locating the world's Deserts. Have a look at the maps below which include some of the deserts. Once you're feeling confident, click the link and test your knowledge. You can ignore the timer if you want, you can use the pictures/maps to help you as you work through, any help whatsoever is fine. Make it as hard or as easy as you like :)

If the pictures below don't get bigger when you hover over them. Search for Maps of the World's Deserts in Google and see what images you can find to help you :)

The Quiz is hard but you may take it a few times as you get to remember more and more locations.

Click on the link https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zvsfr82/articles/zd4rmfr . There is a video about lines of longitude and latitude, I would like you to watch the video, read the information and try the game a couple of time. I would like you then to create a helpsheet that you could give to someone that doesn't know what they are. You can choose how to present your work, being as creative as possible. I look forward to seeing these :)

A matching activity where you need to match the OS Map symbols to their definition. Use you skills and knowledge from this year and previous years to help you. You may want to have a look at some OS maps to help you as they will also have a Key. A good way to present your answers would be to draw the symbol as it's shown and then write the definition or meaning next to it, and then when we return to school we can stick these in our study books. On the last couple of pages there are the answers if you want to mark at the end or get a little stuck.

Let me know how you get on :)
