Home Learning - Week 8, 11th May

Hello everyone,

We hope you are all safe and well.

Did you have fun celebrating VE Day on Friday? If so, we’d love to see some pictures. There are some great videos on Espresso if you’d like to find out a little bit more about why we celebrate the end of the Second World War.

Having spoken to many parents/carers over the week, we have had lots of people saying they need some time to catch up with some of the work set since we started online learning. Therefore this week we have set only a couple of activities to give you time to work through things you may have missed. Please remember we don’t expect to see evidence of everything and there may be an activity you can’t do or decide to improvise in your own way – this is fine.

If you were up to date with everything and would like more to do this week then please do not hesitate to ask us.

Have a great week everyone, stay safe and keep smiling smiley

Victory of Europe (VE) day - 8th May

Home Learning Week 6 - 27th April

*Reminder* Please send short videos to Miss Shields for a year two class montage! (More info on week 5)

Hi everyone!

We hope you had a lovely weekend and enjoyed some time outside - whether that was in your garden or taking your daily exercise.

We are both fine and are staying positive. This weekend I went on a lovely walk from my house to Ormside, which is a small hamlet near where I live in Appleby. Miss Griffiths had fun getting out on her bike exploring the hills around where she lives in Windermere.

Last week we got lots of emails - thank you very much! Please keep sending us pictures about what you have been doing, videos (for the video we are going to compile at the end of this week) and any questions you may have.

From speaking to parents, we understand children are having either extremely motivated, productive days and other days where they want to be playing in their paddling pools and making mud pies in the garden. This is absolutely fine and is what we would expect from 6 & 7 year old children. Therefore we haven’t implemented a formal timetable in year two – we would like you to access each activity at a time you feel appropriate.

This week we have a number of tasks for you to complete:

  • Your writing task is to produce a non-fiction information text on a plant of your choice.
  • Your history this week links nicely; to research plants over time and find out about how and what they were used for in the past such as perfumes, medicines and food.
  • We have set an exciting interactive maths activity based on position and direction.
  • There is also SPAG work and more exciting topic work.
  • There are two comprehension reading tasks.
  • One greater depth maths reasoning sheet for those who feel they may need a challenge.

Again, we love hearing from you so please stay in touch.

We will be contacting you every fortnight but do not feel you must wait until then if you wish to discuss anything in the interim.

Have a super week everyone,

Miss Shields and Miss Griffiths

Home Learning Week 5 - 20th April

Hi everyone!

Happy Monday, we hope you had a lovely weekend.

We had some super pictures and emails from children last week. It is so lovely to see what you are doing at home and that your spirits are high as ever.

We would like to put a short video together of you working on your home learning tasks. It just needs to be a couple of seconds - perhaps you could be doing some writing, on a walk collecting inspiration for your artwork or taking part in Joe Wicks' morning P.E. session. I will put music over it so don't worry about adding sound.

Please email the short clip to: clara.shields@ksps.cumbria.sch.uk

This week there are a number of tasks for you to complete at home, please work your way through them at your own pace. As always, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to email Miss Griffiths or myself.

Have a great week and keep smiling!

Miss Shields and Miss Griffiths

We have had a few emails this week from children but would love to see more! They really do put a smile on our faces. We miss you!

Do send us pictures of you doing your work or any activities you have done over the last week.

Some wordsearch and crossword fun! Maybe you can look out for some of the flowers whilst taking your daily exercise?

Children's Work we have received!

Home learning week 3 - 6th April

06th April 2020

Hello everyone!

We hope you are all keeping safe and well and enjoying your time at home with your families. As it is the Easter holidays, this week we are not going to give you lots of work to do.

We have put an activity sheet together that you can find under: week 3 home learning. There are a range of different activities you can do at home to keep busy!

Data collection task:

There is a data collection task for this week (see powerpoint, Miss Shields' data collection and extension questions.) You can decide what you would like to base your survey on - it could be football, birds in your garden or people's favourite food. To do this you will need to ask people an open question like 'what is your favourite food?' then mark it on your tally chart. Once you have done this you can make your bar chart. You may want to phone your grandparents, friends or even just ask people at home.

Creative and literacy:

A task we would like you to do this week is to create a picture of Easter (this weeks national picture) and to write a letter or card to someone to put a smile on their face. It could be a Key Worker you know, a neighbour perhaps, a friend or family member. Remember, the aim is to make someone smile!

We would love to see your pictures/letters so please remember to email them to us:

hannah.griffiths@ksps.cumbria.sch.uk         clara.shields@ksps.cumbria.sch.uk

We both loved receiving some of your hard work last week, thank you.

Take care,

Miss Griffiths and Miss Shields

Week 3 - activities to keep you busy

30th March 2020

Hello everyone!

Hope you are all keeping safe and well.

We have updated the class page with a number of engaging activities for your child to access whilst at home in these uncertain times. We hope that you will encourage your child to engage in these activities, as they will help develop their learning. We aim to update these every week.

We would love to hear and see how you are getting on at home! Send your pictures and updates to our emails, it would be greatly received and put a smile on our faces!

hannah.griffiths@ksps.cumbria.sch.uk            clara.shields@ksps.cumbria.sch.uk

Lets spread some joy to children out of school!  Around the UK, children are making pictures that they stick up in their windows ( you may of seen some already) to play a mass eye spy! This weeks eye spy is SUNSHINE!  Paint or draw a picture of a sunshine and stick it in your window, you might just make someones day! Hopefully you will spot some on your daily walk.

A little update of what we have been doing whilst at home:

We have been keeping busy at home joining in  Joe Wicks PE session at 9AM most days! Hope you are joining in the fun. It is live on Youtube - search Joe Wicks PE and you should find it! It is a great way to start your morning and stay fit and healthy!

Stay safe and we will update you next week.

Miss Griffiths and Miss Shields
