New Classroom Appeal 2017

January 2018

After an incredibly successful six months of fundraising, we were able to start building our new classroom in July 2017. By the start of the Autumn Term, the children in Year 6 were able to move into the brand new facility, which they had helped to design and furnish. At the same time, we were able to admit the 45 Reception children who had applied for a place at KSPS. An official opening took place on the 6th October, when the school was able to thank everyone for their support in achieving this ambitious project (including the builders, J S Winder, for completing the work in record time). To date, a total of £72,000 has been raised through fundraising and we continue to raise further funds in 2018. We can only say how grateful we are to all the fundraisers, the local community, parents and carers, the children, the staff, the governors, local businesses and everyone else who made it possible. THANK YOU!

Introduction

Kirkby Stephen Primary strives to be a happy community school. In recent years it has grown and developed, opening a very successful Nursery and providing an After School Club.

The number of applications for September 2017 far exceeds the school's admissions number. If we limit the admission number there will be children living in our catchment area would not be offered a place at our school.

We believe that all children in Kirkby Stephen should have the chance to attend their community school. As such, the school is committed to accepting all applications and creating a space in the school which can accommodate its growing number. The school is fundraising for £50,000 to build an additional classroom, which could accommodate any age group.
